John Grindey – Vice President of Operations
John Grindey is the Vice President of Operations at Mecanica Scientific Services, powered by Alpine Intel, and a co-founder of Mecanica Scientific Services. In his executive leadership role, John oversees all facets of daily operations, with a strategic focus on optimizing internal processes, enhancing service delivery, and fostering organizational efficiency. He plays a key role in financial oversight, including budgeting, resource allocation, and fiscal planning, ensuring sustainable growth and profitability. John also helps steer the company’s long-term vision by shaping and executing business development and expansion strategies that align with client needs and industry trends.
With 24 years of experience at the California Highway Patrol, including seven years as a Motorcycle Officer and 10 years as a full-time member of the Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT), John brings extensive field expertise to Mecanica. He is a highly recognized specialist in transportation accident investigation and reconstruction, with deep proficiency in Event Data Recorder (EDR) and Heavy Vehicle EDR (HVEDR) analysis.
Throughout his career, John has investigated or supported over 2,500 traffic accident cases and has conducted hundreds of accident reconstructions. He has responded to and testified in numerous high-profile incidents, meticulously documenting vehicle damage, roadway evidence, and crash data. His insights have served as critical evidence in legal cases, and he is frequently called upon to testify as an expert witness in accident reconstruction and police procedures. In addition, John has led and participated in vehicle safety research, crash testing, and performance studies, contributing to advancements in transportation safety and forensic methodologies.
